Ibiza travel: your ultimate guide

Before traveling to this dynamic Island, I wish I had my own Ibiza travel guide to refer to. With a ‘party’ reputation, I soon discovered that Ibiza had a lot more to offer than even I knew.

Located off the coast of the Iberian Peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea, Ibiza has so much more to offer than its reputation of just being a ‘party spot.’ A UNESCO World heritage Site, this picturesque island showcases the passion, scenery, and culture that Spain is so famous for.

As the scores of party-goers disappear from the island after the summer months, the best time to visit is September-October, while the weather is warm, the prices are cheaper, and the season is coming to an end.

Enjoy the quaint towns, immaculate beaches, and delicious restaurants, without the hassle of making reservations or being overwhelmed by crowds.

Budget airlines, such as Ryanair, make it possible to catch direct flights to Ibiza from many locations throughout Spain. If you’re working your way through the country, from Seville the flight time is about an hour and 20 minutes, direct, with Ryanair.

It’s proximity, ease of travel, and flight price, make Ibiza a great spot to add to any Spain itinerary.

Las Dalias Hippy Market

One of the most famous markets in Ibiza made its mark in 1954, and is still a popular place for travelers and locals to visit. The iconic venue welcomes vendors from around the world, and has become a place to showcase Ibiza’s deep-rooted, hippy heritage.

On the east side of Ibiza, San Carlos is a small village rich in culture and home to Las Dalias. Las Dalias showcases clothing, handmade shoes, unique craftwork, and much more in its space every Saturday, year-round.

Boat Trip To Formentera

It’s difficult not to fall in love with the charming island of Formentera. With its secluded beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rocky landscapes, it’s a must-visit, and only a 35-minute boat ride from Ibiza.

Watch as yachts gather along the sea caves, calm waters entice swimmers, and the smell of fresh seafood awaits you from the shores. If you’re staying at the Hotel Riomar, be sure to ask the front desk about booking this experience.

Explore The Quirk Interiors Of “Sluiz”

Vegas meets Spain, Sluiz is a unique shopping experience that’s lesser known to tourists, and often inhabited by locals. You’ll walk through a peculiar world of home décor, clothing, trinkets, and a whole lot of objects that just don’t make sense.

On your journey through the many aisles, you’ll come face to face with colorful cows, quirky clothing, unusual crafts, and a café filled with hundreds of portraits. If you’re looking for an eccentric experience that showcases the hippy culture of Ibiza, this is it.

Where To Eat & Drink In Ibiza

Savor the true tastes of the Ibizan countryside from the beautifully decorated patio, with views of the Can Miquel Guasch. With an extensive menu of traditional, Ibizan dishes, Ses Escoles is known for including the soul and flavors of Ibiza in all, all dishes are marinated and prepared with Can Miquel EVOO. A gourmet corner within the restaurant makes it easy for visitors to bring a little taste of Ibiza home with them.

Rent a boat, and let it whisk you away, across the crystal-clear waters to the island of Formentera. Chez Gerdi Formentera is more than a beach-side restaurant. Impressive views, a surfside vibe, and the best seafood you may taste on the island. The restaurant combines the unique flavors of Italy, Spain, and Formentera, turning them into mouth watering dishes for all.

Due to its proximity to large rocks, boats anchor away from the dock, and small vessels pull up to transport guests to this culinary delight. During your visit, the Paella and Octopus dishes are a must.

Lose yourself in the peaceful ambience of Hotel Riomar’s Ocean terrace. Relax at the end of your day, with views of Santa Eulalia Bay, and immerse yourself in your favorite dishes. Hand-picked local produce can be found in all dishes, offering a culinary feast in itself.

Favorites, with an Ibizan twist, can be found on the all-day menu, ranging from seafood to juicy burgers. Marvel in the orange hues of an Ibizan sunset. Admire the artistry of the musicians that play during the hotel’s sunset music session.

A short drive from Las Dalias Hippy Market, Bar Anita is a rustic, hidden gem, often frequented by locals. Its quaint outside seating area has beautiful, low-hanging plants. The menu is extensive enough for everyone to find something they enjoy.

Pizzas, salads, pastas, meats, eggs, fish… you name it, Bar Anita has it! Feel the true culture and history of Ibiza, as you surround yourself with Spanish speakers, in this local haunt.

Gaze in awe at the beautiful restaurant Amante. Set in a remarkable cove, the restaurant is the ideal spot for guests to unwind, with the sound of the waves in the back. Perched on the edge of a cliff, this luxurious setting overlooks the beautiful Sol Den Serra Bay.

Beach club by day, Amante encompasses the meaning of day to night, as it transforms into a sea of lights, filled with the smells of fresh food. Modern Italian and Spanish dishes come to life with a selection of fresh fish and meats, grilled on the Josper Grill.
