Hey! I’m Hayley, a British native who moved across the pond to live in the USA at the age of 12. Growing up in Europe, traveling came with the territory.
I successfully graduated college with a major and double minors in Sociology, Social Work, and Writing. This ultimately led to me working 9-5’s most of my 20’s, but the travel bug was still very much alive.
Unlike most, I could never envision myself following the societal norms of being marriage or having your dream job by a certain age. So, I set about following my own path to happiness.
After a few odd jobs here and there, I found myself working in the field of education for 6+ years: which has been incredibly rewarding and has allowed me A LOT of free time to explore.

I started dabbling in marketing and writing 5+ years ago on the side of my 9-5, and told myself that one day I’d have the freedom to work and travel when I wanted.
Fast forward a few years, and I’ve now visited over 31 countries, have lived in 3, and have worked with some of the largest restaurant corporations, tourism boards, and hotels worldwide.
If you had told me 6 years ago that I’d be receiving invitations to press trips around the globe, there’s no way I would have believed you.
Through my travels, Hayley on Hiatus was born to inspire others to follow their happiness. Since the inception of my European escapades in my early 20’s, my travel writing can be seen in: Time Out, Matador Network, Get Your Guide, Travel Off Path, and Hotels Above Par.
